The Augusta Housing Authority (AHA) is able to provide additional programs for residents of Public Housing and Section 8 through grants offered by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

These past several years, the agency has received:

Family Self-Sufficiency Service Coordinators Grant - This grant provides case management for current participants on the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program under the Family Self-Sufficiency Program. The Family Self-Sufficiency Program better enables clients to achieve goals such as obtaining degrees, obtaining employment and qualifying for homeownership.
If you are currently on Section 8 and interested in this program, please see your Case manager for more details or feel free to contact Franciene Parham, FSS/Homeownership Coordinator at 706-312-3142.

HISTORY OF Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program - established in 1990 by section 554 of the National Affordable Housing Act - is a HUD program that encourages communities to develop local strategies to help voucher families obtain employment that will lead to economic independence and self-sufficiency. Public housing agencies (PHAs) work with welfare agencies, schools, businesses, and other local partners to develop a comprehensive program that gives participating FSS family members the skills and experience to enable them to obtain employment that pays a living wage.

Resident Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency Grant - This grant provides opportunities for individuals receiving assistance through Public Housing to fulfill their Community Service Requirement. Under this grant, the Economic Opportunity Authority provides life skills training, employment training and childcare services. If you are a current participant receiving Public Housing Assistance and need to fulfill the Congressionally mandated Community Service Requirement, please contact Resident Services at 706-312-3155.

Augusta Housing Authority, The Boys and Girls Club and the Richmond County Board of Education joined together to build and operate a Youth Athletic Center at Dogwood Terrace. This building is used during the school year by students at Levi White as a site for physical education classes. After school, it will be used by the Boys and Girls Club and the Housing Authority for activities and staff training. By pooling the resources of each partner, a wonderful building is provided and will receive maximum use!

AHA is providing space for:
